QUALIFICATIONS
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a citizen of the United States
Be a High School graduate or possess equivalent
Possess and maintain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License
Pass a pre-hire drug test
Ability to pass the Criti-call pre-employment test (tests knowledge and ability to type, read maps, spell, etc)
Have passed a post offer physical
Have fingerprints on file with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
Not have been convicted of or plead guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or any city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances and have not been released or discharges under any other that honorable discharge from any of the armed services of the United States.
Have the ability to pass and maintain certifications as follows:
40 hour Basic Telecommunicator Course (54 hours with pre-class studies)
24 Hour Emergency Medical Dispatch Course
In house NCIC/TIES Query Certification
16 hours NCIC/TIES Basic Certification held in Nashville, TN
CPR Certification
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Training (NCMEC)
CJIS Security On-line Training
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Training
Courses ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700 & IS-800
Ability to pass 8 hours of continuing education every 2 years
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge of and ability to apply all Policies, Procedures, Rules, Regulations and Call Guides
Knowledge and ability to apply NCIC/TIES rules and regulations
Knowledge and ability to apply FCC rules and regulations pertaining to 2-way radios
Knowledge of and ability to type and operate related computer systems and software applications
Knowledge of written and spoken terminology used in public safety emergency services
Geographic knowledge of McMinn County
General knowledge of local laws and ordinances
Ability to be flexible in hours of work
Ability to Multi-Task
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to hear telephone and radio transmission through a headset
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
